Friday, October 7, judges and guests are invited to attend a festive welcome on the hotel terrace that begins at six.  Following dinner on your own, everyone is welcome to relax and enjoy lively conversation with colleagues from all parts of California.  Saturday, October 8, our day begins with interesting topics ranging from felonies and Prop 47 to Fourth and Fifth Amendment Jurisprudence, gang cases, the current state of the law regarding expert testimony, and evidence based treatment programs.  Our teaching judges and lawyers are the best of the best in their respective areas of expertise. We will enjoy a wonderful lunch on the hotel terrace. Guests are welcome to join us for lunch.

Keynote Speaker – Robert Shapiro

Following another delightful cocktail reception on the terrace after classes on Saturday, we will enjoy a sumptuous dinner, after which Robert Shapiro will deliver the keynote address. Mr. Shapiro, a renowned litigator, is a senior partner at Los Angeles-based Glaser Weil Fink Jacobs Howard Avchen & Shapiro, LLP. With a reputation as a zealous advocate, he has represented clients, ranging from high-profile corporations to celebrities.  Mr. Shapiro has more than 30 years of criminal litigation practice, including the successful defenses of O.J. Simpson and Christian Brando.  Mr. Shapiro is recognized as a Top 100 Trial Lawyer by the National Trial Lawyers Association. An entrepreneur at heart, he is the founder of Guests are welcome to join us for dinner. Another after-hours evening on the terrace will follow, with Mr. Shapiro joining us for a relaxed off-the-record night of conversation.

Sunday, October 9, will be amazing! Renowned attorneys from the judicial defense bar, Edith Matthai, Heather Rosing and Paul Meyer are not going to do the usual “do’s and don’ts” session.  Not this time.  Instead they are going to engage in a "top-to-bottom" analysis of the CJP with special attention on its legal underpinnings, recent published cases, judicial due process (or lack thereof), confidentiality and what judges can do about it. With a CJP audit ordered by the legislature, expect provocative sessions, with Q & A to follow.  The conference concludes at noon.

Participant will get a Certificate of Education, about 12 hours, which includes 2 hours of elective ethics credits. Questions? Feel free to give me a call, or send me an email. See you at the Doubletree!
